Who Lils and Sev
When August 1, Mid afternoon
Where River near their house
Why Because they have barely seen each other
Rating Pg

Covering a small plate with a bit of wrapping, Lily swiftly left the back door but not without telling her her mum where she was off too. her parents never really worried about her where abouts. They figured she could always fend for herself. She had always been meeting up with Severus ever since she had met him when she was younger. Starting a quick pace, she headed down a slightly over grown path towards the river. Passing a few yards, she came to a clearing to find herself standing alone. Twisting her lips slightly she looked about. Did she beat him there?

Severus left Spinner's End with a defiant slam of the door, and ran quickly to the clearing by the river that he was meeting Lily at. After looking over his shoulder to make sure his father hadn't followed him, he tucked his hair behind his ears and made himself noticable. "Good afternoon," he greeted, approaching her.

"Mum's famous lemon bars...." Lily said with a bright smile as she waved them up towards Severus' nose. Unwrapping the plate she was able the smell the even at arm's reach. "I managed to grab some before Petunia got to them all." She said before handing the plate over to Severus. "So how are you?" Her cheerful disposition dropped slightly as she went in for a light embrace.

He hugged her back, letting a smile creep across his pallid countenance. "I'm alright, thank you. And yourself?" he asked, accepting the plate and taking a lemon bar. "Your mum's the best, by the way; thank you," he added, handing the plate back to her.

"I've been well. Mum's been working in the garden in the back. I'd think you'd enjoy it." Wrapping up the plate, she took a few steps closer towards the water. "She actually asked why you haven't come around this holiday. Do you want to sit?" She asked changing the topic abruptly.

"That's good to hear," he replied, munching on the bar. "Gardening? I doubt I'd have the patience for it." He followed her to the water, and looked out; the sun was hitting the river in a particularly beautiful way. "Sit? Alright, sure."

"No," She she started as she sat down, placing the plate beside her. "You'd enjoyed how it looks." She said looking up at him, the sun in her eyes slightly. "Have you done anything other than school work?"

"Oh, my mistake. You're right, I probably would. Your mum's so good with things like that." He sat down beside her. "Not really. I met up with Evan Rosier in Diagon Alley earlier in the week. What've you been up to?"

"None too much. I saw Remus for a bit, but I had to head home shortly after." She said pulling at the grass. "Other than reading, I haven't been doing much of anything. Mum has been teaching me how to bake and cook." She said thinking about what she has done this summer holiday.

Severus stiffened at the mention of the werewolf. "Oh. I saw him, as well. Briefly, in passing." He cleared his throat. "Has she? So you're domestic now, eh?" He asked, raising an eyebrow quizzically.

"Apart from the cleaning and taking care of kids. She says Petunia just burns everything." Catching his expression she nudged his side with a small twist of her lips and narrowing of her gaze. "Don't get any ideas. This doesn't mean I am going to start baking pies for you at the drop of a hat."

"I'd never dream of it, Lils. You're far too special to be reduced to that. It's just interesting that you're learning those sorts of things. I would've have thought you to be that type of girl," he explained quickly, feeling himself blush. He bit his lip at the mention of Petunia, not trusting himself to say anything decent about her.

"Reduced to it?" She was a bit taken back. She hadn't even thought abou tit that way. "You are saying it as though it's punishment. Obviously you don't understand how fun it is to bake." She shrugged lightly and leaned back on her elbows. "Besides, raw cookie dough is probably better than it's cooked counter part."

"Well it is. You're capable of much more. Housewifery is, although respectable in its own right, not particularly special, unlike you," he replied, tripping over his words. "That carries ridiculous amounts of bacteria, you know that, right?" He asked.

"Lily, I am not going to play tag with you," he stated matter-of-factly.
"We're far too old for such frivolity." He stood up and brushed off his clothes, and crossed his arms, trying to remain serious although he was actually quite amused. "Did someone slip you something? You're a nut," he remarked with a slight chuckle.

"All we do at Hogwarts is work. We come back home and we do work. The two of us don't even come back to the greatest of all places." She said walking back to him slowly. "You have to learn to have fun sometimes." She said with a small shrug.

"What's wrong with work? It's productive. It accomplishes things. Unlike poking others and playing tag," he replied, shrugging slightly. "I do know how to have fun. It's just different from your type of fun."

Sighing, she walked up to him and gave him a small look. "This isn't the only way I have fun you know." She said a bit defensively and proceeded to walk past him and closer to the water.

He sighed, and sat back down. "Oh? How else do you have fun?" he asked, trying to keep the edge out of his voice. Severus felt out of his element, which perplexed him and made him feel uncomfortable.

"Well, you already said baking was below me. You shrugged off my taste in reading. You obviously don't like when I have childish fun. You'll probably say something about how it is stereotypical of me as a girl to enjoy shopping once in a while." She said listing a few things off at the top of her head. "You'll probably roll your eyes at most of the muggle things I'll name off. So I guess in your eyes I am a pretty dull girl." She said reproachfully.

"You're not dull! Don't put words in my mouth," he replied hotly. "You can have all the childish fun you want, I just don't find the same joy in it that you do. Is there something wrong with that?" He asked, becoming frustrated. "I'm sorry if we don't always agree anymore."

"People change. Sometimes they grow apart." She said as she walked back over to him and sat down once more. "I still don't think you find joy in anything." She said slightly under her breath, looking away.

"Sometimes." He repeated softly, looking down. "I guess that's what's happening to us, hm?" He asked, his voice barely above a whisper. "Maybe I don't Lily. Who knows."

"I just think you are right pain in the arse." She said with a small smile. Sighing lightly she rested her head on his shoulder. "You need to learn to stop being to stiff."

He looked at her with incredulity. "Do you?" he asked with a small smile. "I am not stiff. Just different," he added, lightly touching Lily's hair.

"Not all the time. Just some. Very few." She said turning her gaze up at him her lips curling up slightly. "Misunderstood, am I right?" She said shifting a bit closer to him. "That still doesn't mean you can't have a bit of childish fun once in a while."
