Who: Emma, Izzie and Sirius
When: September 1st, really late at night
Where: somewhere between the ktichens and the Great Hall
What: Izzie is hungry
Rating: PG

"Alright, alright," she murmured, letting her kitten down.  "I'm trying to get you something to eat.  If you get us caught, no more snacks for you, missy."  The kitten turned and looked at Emma as if to say, 'Yeah, right.'  The young woman rolled her eyes and made her way towards the kitchens.  She'd only been there once and that had been with a couple of other Hufflepuffs on a dare.  Now, she felt so lost.  Sighing, she turned down a darker corridor and lit her wand silently.

Suddenly, Izzie stopped and looked forward, mewling loudly.  "Shh!" Emma chastized.  "Come on, Izzie, be quiet."  Footsteps could be heard and Emma quickly put out her light, only to make Izzie make more noise.  Crossing her fingers, she prayed that who ever was coming wasn't a professor.  She definitely didn't want to get in trouble the first night back.

Sirius had wondered if it was too early in the year to find puddings in the kitchens. After thinking about this, and the type of puddings, and then Christmas puddings, he decided that Kitchen Elves were magical anyway, and would proabably conjour up a proper pudding if he asked about it.

Putting on his sneaky socks (for one must always sneak around in sneaky socks), Sirius slipped out of bed, and then the dorms, and then the commons. The Fat Lady sighed at him, muttering something about being up to his tricks already, but made no attempt to stop him. She'd learned better.

Sirius jogged lightly down the hallway, only avoiding two prefects and a ghost before approaching the entrance to the kitchens.

He heard a meow.

The Gryffindor lad froze in place, and pressed against the wall. Way too cute to sound like Mrs. Norris. With a darting glance to the way he came and the way to magical puddings, Sirius hesitantly meowed into the darkness. ...and realized that his animagi form had made a better assumption of his animal mimicking abilities than he had. Too late to take the sound back, Sirius waited.

Emma was holding her breath, praying that Izzie would stop that noise when suddenly she was answered. By a human voice. Emma crouched down in the mostly darkness to where Izzie had been and went to pick her up. But the kitten had other ideas. She padded off, passed Emma's waiting hands, wishing to investigate the noise. Curiosity got the cat, after all.

And then Izzie found Sirius. She approached him slowly, sniffling him as she went. When she decided she liked him, for he did have some scent of Remus, James and Peter, she nuzzled up to his leg and mewled approvingly.

Emma, on the other hand, was silently cursing herself. She should have left Izzie in the dorms and come down herself. Releasing a deep breath as silently as she could, Emma eased forward in the darkness, trying to find her kitten.

It wasn't a cat, it was a transfiguration project. Sirius wondered if it had been one of those powder puffs..or maybe a mitten on it's way to a ball of yarn. Either way, for it made perfect sence to do so, Sirius patted it on its head and picked it up.

Aw, fuck it.

"'ELLO THERE." Sirius said, in a moderately loud voice.

Emma jumped about three feet in the air when the voice spoke out. Clutching her chest, she lit her wand, trying to prove to her racing heart that no vampire, or professor, was standing there. The light revealed a handsome, dark haired young man holding Izzie. The kitten decided to lick Sirius' hand. It seemed that the little fuzz ball had taken a liking to him.

"Hi yourself," she breathed. "I see you've found Izzie then." Izzie purred loudly in response. "Flirt," she murmured, mostly to herself and partly to Izzie. That little thing seemed to like all the males she came in contact with. And the animal in question turned big eyes to Sirius at that moment. It was almost too ridiculous.

Sirius nodded, holding the fluffball out to her with one hand. "I suppose so. ...and it was just a hello." When had flirtation been changed to include loud greetings? Girls were stranger this year...

Emma laughed. "No, actually, I was talking to her. She's made friends with every boy I know. Remus, James... She's such a little flirt." Gently, she took the kitten from him. "Sorry," she said, flushing. "I'm Emma, by the way."

"I am Sirius, as you might now if you know my mates." The young man flourished a half-bow, and grinned at her. "Cats, in nature, are flirtatious. It makes their fur shiny and their tails flicky."

She laughed again. "Yeah, I suppose it is. Never had one before." She lifted Izzie up in the wand light. "Hey, what do you know... she does look shinier."

Emma smiled. "And it's nice to meet the infamous Sirius. So, you up to trouble this late at night?" she asked, voice a little teasing.

"Well, if I'm infamous, I must be, eh?" He rubbed the front of his shirt a little, saying, "My stomach's the one with the trouble - got me thinking of puddings and it's no where near Christmas. Are you causing trouble, Miss Em?"

She grinned. "You might want to watch that stomach of yours then." Emma nodded at Izzie. "Nope. It's always this one. I was a good girl, quiet, library-bound. Then she came along." Izzie mewled in response, clearly not pleased.

Sirius nodded, "Remus is like that, too. Never hungry till someone shoves a sandwich in their face. Not good for you, yanno."

"Yeah, I sort of figured it wasn't good when she ran off into the darkness before. Silly thing," she said, holding the kitten close. "But the poor thing needs to bulk up a bit anyway."

She held out her wand arm in the general direction of the kitchen. "Shall we? Before she starts making a fuss again."

"Sure," Sirius said, and started walking. "Can't get my puddings by standing here, now can I?"

She laughed. "No, I don't suppose you can." Emma followed him, holding onto Izzie this time. "So, did she headbutt you too? That seems to be her favorite way of introducing herself."
