Who:Lily && Remus
When: 12th of September, mid afternoon
Where: Out on the Hogwarts Grounds
What: A PICNIC! That's what! ((Unless James spots them out window of the Gryffindor Tower. Then it's an ANEURYSM!))
Rating: PG

"Bloody blanket..." Lily said to herself as she tried to get the extra blanket that she found in the closet in her dorms to lay flat on the ground. However with each breeze, it constantly fell with a fold. After a few attempts later, Lily managed to get the blanket to lay flat to the ground. Placing the picnic basket, which she was quite surprised to find, on the corner of the blanket, she took a seat. Blowing a strand of hair out of her eye she waited for her company.

Remus rushed across the grounds, frequently having to push his hair out of his face and vaguely wondering to himself why his mother didn't push him for a hair cut before he went back to school. Finally he spotted Lily and hurried over to her. "Hello!" He said, throwing himself on the blanket and handing her some stuff he swiped from the kitchen wrapped in a cloth napkin. "It's just some cookies and a bit of chocolate cake the Hou-- Er, that were left over in the Great Hall earlier." He said sheepishly, looking around. "Lovely spot."

Lily's smile broke a bit as she saw Remus a bit taken back. "A bit over the top, isn't it?" Her smile was weakened a bit, but it went back to being bright in just a few moments. "There was no way could have a mediocre picnic." Especially with everything that they had at their disposal. "We do have to have the blanket." Maybe James was right, maybe she did have to have everything perfect.

"No, it's great." He said, sitting up a bit straighter. "You're right, there's not really a way to downplay a picnic. It is what it is." He smiled. "Looks like you put a lot of work in."

"Well, there is always eating from a basket on a blanket on a floor inside." She said with a small smirk. "Other than that, I don't know of anyway." Handing him one of the sandwiches she got from the kitchen, Lily made a small face. "No, not really. It was hardly any really."

Remus smiled placatingly, but hopefully not too much so. "Well, we'll just say I'm not used to any effort at all." He said, taking the sandwich from her. "So, how are you liking prefectdom so far?" He asked after a few bites.

"A little effort should be put into everything." Lily said wrinkling her nose before taking a bite of her own sandwich. Looking up as she chewed, she thought about Remus' question and nodded. "I am liking it very much. Although, the rounds may be impeding on my study time. How about you?"

Remus also took his time answering the question, although he was looking for a way to phrase it correctly rather than what his answer would be. "Well, it hasn't been too bad so far. I haven't had to give anyone any detentions yet or take away too many House Points." He said, looking thoughtfully at his sandwich. "It is a bit of a pain trying to get work and studying in before rounds though. Why they choose prefects in our fifth year is beyond me, what with OWLs and all."

She shrugged, Lily had made herself a schedule. Everything was set so she could study do rounds have time to socialize and go to class. There wasn't time for her to have a break down. "I don't think it's too hard." Her words trailed slightly. "I mean, you just have to organize everything. Maybe even fit in a bit of relaxation if you feel a bit overwhelmed." Lily smiled a bit teasingly.

"Ah, Lily. My life is too chaotic and all that tosh to schedule anything." He said airily. "Although a bit of organization probably wouldn't hurt. Its bad enough we have to be told when to wake up, when to go to class, and went to eat and sleep. I'd rather not make it to where I have to be told when to study and wander around looking for troublemakers. Alas." He said, finishing off his sandwich.

Lily rolled her eyes and sighed. "I supposed you wouldn't want to be told when to do your work and have fun either." Looking back at him she couldn't help but smile through pursed lips. "I guess sceduled tasks and montony isn't for eveyone. It would just drive you mad."

Remus smiled. "Well, since I am often told how boring I am, I could probably deal with it. But I wouldn't prefer it. The result of an overbearing parent, perhaps. But if it works for you, then that is great."

"You aren't boring Remus. I am sure you are more exicting than me." Turning away, Lily rummaged through thr basket, as though she was looking for something. "I know I put them in...here they are." Soon enough, she pulled out cookies and a quill, but discarded the quill back to the basket. "I surely doubt you lack a stick up the bum."

"Well... Everyone has their stick up the bum moments. But that hardly prevents one from being boring or not. Some people like that sort of thing so it improves their mood." He said innocently, wondering why she had a quill in a picnic basket. "Why did you have a quill in the picnic basket, by the way?"

"Remus, most people aren't convinced that isn't just a moment for me. But that I have I have to have the stick magically removed and enjoyment some how injected into me." Lily said a bit toneless as she just watched him. Shaking it off, she handed him a cookie. "The quill. Well, I have my books and work in there too. This way I can go straight to the library or stay here and get som studying in."

Remus quickly took a bite of the cookie to stop any sort of sniggering that may unintentionally escape at her comment which she said quite seriously. "Well." He said, after he'd finished chewing and regained his composure. "A good way to stop people from seeing you that way would be to not bring your homework on a picnic. It looks like you just can't get away from the person you're with. And I don't believe that you're so restricted to this schedule of yours. It doesn't seem you to me."

"Well, it may not seem like me," She took a bite of her own cookie as she thought for a moment "Because.." She quickly covered her mouth and made a face realizing her mouth was full and laughed a bit. "Because you know me, slightly, a bit. Well, better than most." Wrinkling her nose, Lily made a face, before laughing. "I guess I just have a pretense for being a stuck up, snob." She shrugged and handed Remus another cookie.

Remus smiled at took the second cookie as he thanked her for it. "I don't know anyone who thinks you're a snob. Or that you could be a snob. You're too nice to be a snob. But I do know you a bit, yes. So perhaps I'm biased." He said, shrugging a little and taking a bite of the cookie. "It's just, I've known snobs and you pale by comparison."

Lily just looked at Remus for a moment, her mouth open and her eyes half lidded. "You were in the common room that day when he threw all those accusations at me right? Or maybe it was someone else. I swear Potter is off his rocker some days." She said smiling, breaking a cookie in half. "Alright though, more stuck up than a snob then."

Remus bit his bottom lip self-consciously and looked back at her for a moment. He cleared his throat. "Which time? He seems to be doing things like that more and more frequently lately. Honestly I've started to tune him out a little when he gets that way. I get this ringing in my ears." He said, smiling as well. "Stuck up is fine. It just means you have enough self confidence to be choosy in who you speak to. Being a snob would just make you a horrible person and you're not."

"I shouldn't have to deal with him. He is your friend after all. I don't know what his probably is. Just because I think that everyone should be doing their own work when it is assigned. I don't see the big deal." Purses lips and looked up. " I think I am efficient. Not stuck up." Lily said in a bit snob like manner, which soon enough broke into a bit of small laugh.

"Well, James makes sure everyone has to deal with him as to not put too much stress on his friends. He's really not that bad when he calms down and thinks before he says things." He said, trying not to agree with her too much about James. They are friends and all. "Efficient. Are you a machine? Robo-Lily." He laughed.

"Well, is he just the social butterfly. Making sure that everyone has the joy of being pestered by the boy with the largest ego in the castle." She scoffed a bit. "I doubt he thinks before he speaks, and if he does it only to make me regret saying certain things or to twist what I have said." She looked at Remus and smiled weakly. "I'm sorry but you know he doesn't make it any easier." She said rolling her eyes crumbling the rest of her cookie. "I should have said productive or something of the sort."

"He likes attention. Sirius is the same way, that's why they get along so well. Irregardless, they're both really not as bad as they seem. James can just be overzealous sometimes." He said, taking a drink of whatever there is to drink. "Productive would have been better than efficient, yes. But you're more than the ability to do your work in a timely manner, Lily."

"He reminds me of a kid sometimes. A kid who has had too much sugar." She twisted her lips and slouched a bit. "I'd hate to see what would've happened if they weren't friends. That would have been a bit frightening." She retorted making a bit of a face. "Which why i a out picnicking with you."

"If they weren't friends, they would have been enemies and if there had been any of the castle remaining standing, they probably would've fought til the death to decide who had the right to call it there dominion. They are willful beings and James is spoiled, hence the strong impression of a child." He said, contemplating how the conversation got so James-centric. "Also if they weren't friends, I'd probably be hidden away in the library alone and friendless and you would have only heard the name Remus Lupin in passing, wondering vaguely to yourself who exactly he was."

"If that was to happen, I doubt I would have ever left the girls dormitory." Lily laughed. "Oh, Remus I would have known of you. Considering we are the same year and house. Also the fact are probably the only boy that seems to do his work in our year. Who would I go to when I need help? " She leaned in close with a smirk. " Us girls have a terrible habit of gossiping and pampering ourselves after curfew. There would be no way for me to get help."

"What a comfort." He said, laughing a little. "It wouldn't be the same though. Life would be boring." He gazed at her for a moment, shook his head a little, and smiled. "Well, that is what I'm here for. Moral support, homework assistance, and the occasional picnic."
